Flying with Young Children

Here are some tips when flying with Baby or Young Children:

Always pack a sweater, cardigan or blanket as it can get chilly on the plane.

Pack enough essential supplies for the first two days after you arrive. Just in case your luggage does not make it.

Pack yourself an extra t-shirt, just in case of spills or baby spit.

Pack a shopping bag in your carry-on to use as a garbage bag on the flight.

If you are able to take your stroller to the gate then it will need to pass through the security gates and will be searched. Your baby will also need to be taken out of the stroller and carried through the security gates - even if they are asleep. Make sure you don't have too much junk stored in the storage sections of your stroller to make it easier at the security checks.

You cannot have two lap children in the same row, so if you are like us and have a set of twins, Aaron and I were unable to sit together on the plane.

Bring their favorite toys and books in their carry-on to entertain them on the plane.

If you suspect your baby will react to the changing cabin pressure, make sure you have something handy for him or her to suck on, like a bottle or pacifier, when the plane is taking off and making its descent. This can help ease the pressure
